Great piece, Violette. I agree Dawkins and many others are treating your life and well-being as a thought experiment, and the misinformation out there about things like chest feeding aren't helping the conversation.

If I can provide a little insight into the GC mindset, I think the gender critical analysis does not take dysphoria into consideration, and truly believes that trans women call themselves women because they identify with feminine stereotypes, and this is honestly scary to many women. Of couse this isn't true, but when trans people are very rare and you haven't met many, misunderstandings naturally occur.

I've come to feel solidarity on feminist issues from several trans women, and I have hope that we can move forward, and this conversation will peter out. But there is a lot of misinformation and closed minds, and I'm honestly not sure what to do to combat that.
